take our word
for it...come and find out for
yourself! "Telluride is an
eclectic,
down-to-earth treasure nestled in a stunning
box
canyon rimmed with 13,000 foot peaks." - Ski
agazine, October 2003
The Town of Telluride
Nestled in a box canyon surrounded by majestic,
13,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains, the over a
century-old Town of Telluride is filled with colorful
legends and Rocky Mountain spirit. Just six blocks wide
and
twelve blocks long, the National Historic District
is a window into the town's illustrious past and a
showcase of
spirited individualism and community pride.
It's also a delight to explore, with its colorful
Victorian homes, clapboard storefronts, boutiques, art
galleries,
bookstores, gourmet restaurants, historic
buildings and much more. The heartbeat of an illustrious
past lives on
n Telluride’s present...and its future.
The Town of Mountain Village
Perched at 9,500 feet mid-mountain on the south side of
the ski area, the distinct beauty of Mountain Village
entices the most discriminating guests with its luxury
hotels and condos, stylish boutiques, innovative dining,
world-class Golden Door Spa, championship golf course,
and state of the art conference center. Enchanting
everyone with its modern alpine elegance and overlooking
some of the most magnificent peaks in the San Juan
range, Mountain Village is the ultimate mountain
retreat, complementing the rustic charm of Telluride to
create
“the best of both worlds” for visitors to this
spectacular area.
Founded in 1987 and incorporated in 1995, the heart of
Mountain Village is the 92-acre pedestrian center known
as the “Mountain Village Core.” Besides its luxury
condos and hotels, it is the recreational and social
activity
center, with sports shops, restaurants, banks,
a market, home furnishings store, antiques, jewelry,
gifts,
apparel, and more.
The Gondola
Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a
spectacular 13-minute ride on the free gondola, making
it easy to
enjoy both worlds without ever getting in the
car. This popular scenic attraction provides

edge of the slopes and lifts
of the ski mountain. Only

Telluride (pop. 2,200) is located in the southwestern
corner of Colorado, nestled in the spectacular San Juan
range of the Rocky Mountains. Its rugged mountain beauty
affords no easy freeway access, but it is easier to
get
here than one might think - and well worth taking the
road less traveled!
Whether you decide to drive or fly, your journey to
Telluride offers breathtaking views and awesome scenery.
(Photo: Last Dollar Road. See "Hiking" or "Jeeping
Adventures" in Activities section.) Direct flights into

walking
distance! Additionally, the Galloping Goose is
available for a free ride within Telluride and "Dial a
Ride" offers free
transportation within Mountain
Village.
Transportation between towns is easy! Just hop on the

Live Theatre
Telluride Repertory Theatre Company presents Frankie and
Johnny in the Clair de Lune. A critical and popular
success, this bittersweet comedy combines poignancy and
laughter as it traces the unlikely romance that
begins
to develop between two middle-aged "losers." Johnny, a
short order cook, is convinced that he loves
Frankie, a
waitress, a notion that she, at first, considers to be
ridiculous. She has had more disappointments
than
delights in life, and he is the veteran of one broken
marriage already. Yet out of their sometimes touching,
sometimes hilarious interplay the promise of a
relationship beyond a "one-night stand" does begin to
emerge.
